Historically, we have deep roots in Centre County, initially established as The Kissinger Agency in 1933. Gordon D. Kissinger was born in Williamsport, PA in 1908. He entered Penn State as a freshman the same year that Joe Paterno was born - 1926. He graduated with a degree in Architechtural Engineering in 1931. In 1933, he opened the Gordon D Kissinger Agency (real estate and insurance) in a one room office on the 2nd floor of the State College Hotel (above the Corner Room). He gained the confidence of Morris Baum, one of the community's early entrepreneurs who purchased the farmland that became W. Fairmount Avenue, S
. Patterson Street, Robin Road and was Morris' real estate broker in the developement of those areas. In 1946, Gordon moved his office to the 2nd floor of the People's National Bank Building, now First National Bank of PA, at 117 S. Allen Street, where he remained until 1966 when he designed and built a new office building at 245 S. Allen Street (part of the current site of the State College Boro Hall). Gordon remained active in the business until 1980, when he semi-retired. Gordon passed in 1994, the founder of what is now Kissinger, Bigatel & Brower REALTORS®, the largest and oldest real estate brokerage in Central Pennsylvania. Gordon was the developer of Zion Heights, Lynnwood Heights, Park Hills, Centre Hills and Nittany Hills East.

In 1964, Gordon's middle son, Fred, joined him in the business. He has been involved in the growth of the company. In 1972, Bill Leonard and Bruce Hein became partners and the firm name became Kissinger, Leonard & Heim. In 1977, the firm name was again changed to Kissinger, Leonard & Associates. In 1983, Ralph Brower became a partner and the firm name became Kissinger, Leonard & Brower. In 1993, Mark Bigatel, along with his company, Associated Realty, became a partner and the firm name once again changed to what it remains today: Kissinger, Bigatel & Brower REALTORS®, thus our nickname, "KBB." Today, there are five more partners, for a total of eight; Fred Kissinger, Mark Bigatel, Ralph Brower, Jan Graci, Brad Karch, Beth Richards, Chris Turley & Larry Walker. The firm has over 50 full time agents and 2 offices; North Atherton and South Atherton Street in State College.  Today, Kissinger Bigatel & Brower REALTORS® is the largest, independent, full service real estate firm in Central Pennsylvania, and is celebrating 80 years of helping people buy and sell homes, farms, land, investment and commercial properties!

 In addition to working on your behalf, KBB REALTORS® spend a lot of time and effort involved in community services. We all contribute evey month to a fund named "KBB Cares".  Although each REALTOR® has their own favorite charity, the money in this fund is distributed based on a committee vote and it supports local and national charities like the local Youth Services Bureau, THON, The State College Theather, Housing Transitions and United Way.  We support Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Leadership Centre County and numerous other charities.  In short, we love this community and want to continue to contribute to making it a great place to live, work and play.  So when you come to one of our State College offices, don't be surprised if you see a friendly and familar face.
