HISTORY of Clearfield County, PA 
In 1804, Clearfield County was created from parts of Huntingdon and Lycoming Counties.  It was actually named after Clearfield Creek which alludes to the 'clear fields' made by the large number of bison in the area at that time! . There are events and activities for every season in Clearfield County. In the summer you can enjoy fairs, festivals, golfing and exploring any of the four state parks located here.
