My story about moving to State College PA

My moving story is one of a conversion...an awakening...one of those 'ah ha' moments in life.  I didn't want to come here back when I did in 1998. I didn't want to come at all.  My husband's job was transferred and so, we had to move.  With the kids.  And the dog. And an enormous amount of 'stuff' we seemed to acquire and save.  Away from our families and with our heels (especially mine)  firmly dug into New Jersey.  Away from a home I loved and a community I was completely immersed in. But, we came cause we had to...and, after about 3 months, I NEVER looked back! 'Ah ha'...this area is a WONDERFUL place to call home.  My father used to laugh and say that I had found 'Shangri La' ...a place which is defined as a mystical, harmonious valley; an earthly paradise; a permanently happy land.  This joke by my dad was, of course, a little overboard, but I would laugh and tell him, that this place is actually called 'Happy Valley' and that it, indeed lives up to that title.   Anyway, we began our new life here, raising our kids, burying one dog and adopting a new one, going to work, going to school, making friends and carving out a happy life ... here in Happy Valley.  And, I can tell you...it IS a lovely place to live your life.

Professional Marketing Experience

Fresh out of college, I started at Borden Chemical in New Jersey as the Marketing Director's assistant.  My boss was quite a genius and I was fortunate to work for him and learn so much.  I keep in touch with him to this very day and still owe him for all he taught me about business.  Shortly after he left the company, I, too left the company and went to work for Transamerica. Not so lucky with my manager there!  However, there's always a silver lining.  I had to pick up the ball and run with it.  It taught me alot...and quickly! After Liz Piazza Kissinger Bigatel & Brower REALTORSbeing in marketing for a couple of years, I transferred to Sales.  So, I sold and leased tractor trailers in the trucking industry in central and northern NJ...enough said.  When I married, we bought a house that was too far from my office.  (Yes, back in those days, you needed to go into the office to handle paperwork.)  So I left Transamerica and started sales at WMID in Atlantic City.  Once again, I found myself with a mentor who encouraged success and motivated people by his energy and enthusiasm.  It was a great fit for me...until I became pregnant and then nothing fit!  I stayed at home raising our children for the next fifteen years....very happily.

Fast forward fifteen years and I find myself with time on my hands and decide to take a little part time position at a real estate company...Kissinger Bigatel & Brower.  Again, I was blessed with management who wanted me to learn and be better and grow.  Jan Graci's enthusiasm, her years of experience, her creative problem solving, her sense of calm when all around is calamity...priceless!  She's taught me so much about real estate, about business, about 'thinking outside of the box'...my sincere thanks to her.  My other boss, Mark Bigatel is also a terrific mentor.  He also has many years of experience, a keen eye for marketing properties and excellent judgement.  As the market took a turn for the worse in 2008, Mark who is KBB's Managing Broker led this brokerage through the difficult times and we actually increased our market share while others saw their share dwindling.  This success is due to wise management and a serious company-wide dedication to client care.  Working closely with both of these professionals is why my 'little part time postition' has morphed into a 'full time passion'.

Real Estate in Centre County

Let's get one thing straight...I love real estate!  I find everything about it interesting and dynamic. Sometimes buying a new home is exciting and sometimes it's a little overwhelming.  But, home ownership is still the American dream!  When I sold the commercial building on the corner of Beaver and Allen, it was by far my biggest sale, but not my biggest accomplishment.   I felt just as happy when I helped a family that was relocating here from Maryland and buying their first home ever.  They were able to find a home they love and within just a couple of weeks have everything in place before their four boys started at their new schools here in PA.  Nice!

Below are a few examples of some of my recent sales.

What's important to me?

My family...now and forever...my family is a priority in my life.

Friends...many are just like family to me (so, see above comment!).

My faith...my belief in God and my thanks for all the goodness in my life, my reliance on Him during the tougher times.

Kissinger Bigatel & Brower...In the almost 9 years that I've been here at KBB, my 'job' has been transformed into one of my 'passions'.  You see, everyday, I see how much these REALTORS truly care for their clients and work so hard to make the home buying or selling process a smooth and stressLESS experience for their clients.  Their caring rubbed off on me and I'm grateful for that. They are, by far, the most dedicated group of professionals I've ever worked with.  I have to say, I admire them.

A few of my favorite things...

I love sports, so when we came here, it was a easy to embrace Joe Pa and the Nittany Lions....especially since we had excellent seats for every home game.  However, I will always stay loyal to the NY Giants and the NY Yankees!

Love music...everything from live bands to YouTube. Like most genres...except Jazz...just can't get into it.  Sorry.

Completely enjoy gardening...potted plants outside, house plants inside, raised beds, hanging baskets....you name it.  Flowers are fun, pretty and some attract those amazing hummingbirds.

Love my dog, Marty, who accompanies me on a walk every day...sometimes in the morning...sometimes in the evening...it doesn't matter to him!  (Even now as I type this, he is looking at me and waiting to walk.)

Like old movies...almost any kind except westerns...unless Clint Eastwood is in them...then I like westerns too.

Magazines...after working hard all day...it's fun to just skim through Vogue or Bazaar or any fashion magazine and look at the fashion.

People! I do love people and can usually find something to like in everyone.
