Only a 15-to-20-minute commute to Penn State and State College, here you'll find a blend of beautiful rural living and newer planned residential developments, located south and west of State College providing easy access to Interstate 99 and the growing commercial/retail district on Rt. 322 West (North Atherton Street). Halfmoon Township got its name because of the figures of halfmoons found by early settlers on trees marking the route of an Indian trail passing through the valley. Stormstown was founded in 1800 by Jacob Storm and in early years featured saw mills, a blacksmith shop, a grist mill, a tannery and chair and pottery makers. There are many acres of State Game Lands to preserve our valued rural open space. Don't be confused--your mailing address here could be Port Matilda.
