ALL ABOUT PENN STATE: PSU expanding paid parental leave
Penn State has recently added another great benefit for full-time employees: paid parental leave.
To qualify, staff members must have been employed in a benefits-eligible position for at least a year before their child’s birth or adoption.
This is great news for current and future university employees, who as of July 1 can take four consecutive weeks off to care for and bond with their new family member. The paid time off must be used within 90 days of the birth or adoption.
For the past 16 years the university has offered paid parental leave to faculty members, but the new program covers a much larger portion of university workers.
Just last year, Centre County government approved a similar policy offering six weeks of paid time off, as did Ferguson Township.
