Natural Beauty

The Penn State Arboretum

Whether you live in State College or are just in town for Penn State Homecoming, why not plan a visit to the Arboretum at Penn State. This little gem is a delightful spot as it displays natural beauty throughout every season. Currently, they are "crazy for cucurbits" (a.k.a. squash, gourds, pumpkins, and more!). Believe it or not, Penn State set aside the land for an arboretum all the way back in 1914! In 2007, Charles H. "Skip" Smith gave a $10 million gift to take the arboretum from a plan to a reality and it opened to the public in 2009.  What a gift to our area! You can see what's growing in their garden right here: The Arboretum at Penn State. Enjoy!
