Upcoming Art Festivals in Centre County
For two long years, summers in central Pennsylvania have looked a little different. In State College and the surrounding areas summers are typically full of arts festivals, live music, and lots of fun! In 2022 things are finally getting back to normal; Arts Fest, People’s Choice, and the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair will be happening in-person once again!
Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts™ is a tradition in State College that began 55 years ago. At Arts Fest you can stroll and shop throughout the streets of downtown and the PSU campus admiring the amazing creativity of artists from all over the country. While enjoying the sidewalk sale and exhibition on South Allen Street, make sure to look up. Above the street you will find beautiful banners, part of a competition that displays vibrant colors and artistry floating in the breeze for all to see.
Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts also offers live music, dance performances, all on multiple stages throughout downtown, delicious food, and so much more. Arts Fest 2022 will be held July 14-17, with children and youth day on Wednesday, July 13th.
People’s Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts, another summer tradition, typically takes place in Boalsburg and is focused on local artists and vendors from Pennsylvania. Featuring nearly 200 artists, dozens of food vendors, wineries, and live entertainment, People’s Choice is truly a “home-grown arts festival…for the people”. Occurring the same time as Arts Fest, People’s Choice will be held this year on July 14-17.
This year the People's Choice Festival is making one major change, location! After nearly 30 years in Boalsburg, the People’s Choice Festival is moving to the Grange Fairgrounds in Centre Hall, still only a few minutes from downtown. People’s Choice at Grange Park will still have all the lovely artists, food court, music, and will continue to be a family-friendly festival, particularly with the popular Science Tent and Youth Sales Area which occurs for the entire four days of the event. This new venue will allow the festival to grow and will remain at no-charge to visitors.
Later in the summer there is another exciting art festival for all to enjoy. The Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair will be held in Historic Downtown Bellefonte on August 5-6, 2022. This summer will be the 39th annual BACF with artists, entertainment, food vendors and children’s activities. Just a couple miles north of State College the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair is a wonderful event to walk-around, enjoy the artistry in downtown Bellefonte, and wander over to Tallyrand Park.
Each of these festivals provide a fun and unique experience to admire artists, performers, and more, many of whom are local. They also are a great place to find gifts for birthdays, holidays, or simply new décor for your home.
