Weekend Getaways : Black Moshannon State Park

Black Moshannon State Park- Just a 27 minute drive from State College, PA is a 3,480 Acre Pennsylvania State Park in Centre County. Black moshannon forest and wetlands provide recreational opportunities for all visitors!

Wondering how Black Moshannon got it's name? The "black" in the park name describes the tea-colored waters. The 250-acre Black Moshannon Lake is fed by clear springs and small streams which flow through the bogs that stretch in most directions from its shores. As the clear water flows through the moss and other wetland plants, it becomes colored by plant tannins.

If you have an RV this is the perfect campsite to attend. Black Moshannon has 80 camp sites and each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Camping seasons ends in late December and begins in April.

Some other things that the Park offers are cabin rentals year round, free parking, restrooms located on site, dumping station, Handicap accessible, organized activites, showers, & pets permitted.

Rent a cabin or go camping in Black Moshannon for the weekend for the perfect little getaway. As Fall is approaching it is the perfect place to see the leaves changing, have a fire outside of the camp, go kayaking, biking, take a walk on the bogwalk & just take in the beautiful scenery Black Moshannon has to offer.
