Historic Centre Hall, Pennsylvania, is located in scenic Penns Valley, in the south-central portion of Centre County. Only 20 minutes’ drive from State College and Bellefonte, this quaint hamlet offers small town living a short commute from the best amenities the county has to offer.

Further that feeling by attending the Grange Fair. Held in the borough every August, this one-of-a-kind event has been held since 1874 and is the last remaining encampment fair in the nation. A longstanding tradition for many Centre County families, it sees thousands of people camp out for the 9-day event in traditional green canvas tents. Camping spots are limited and are often passed down from generation to generation. The Grange Fair is one of Centre County’s oldest and most popular traditions – and once you visit, you’ll understand why!
There’s more to Centre Hall than the Grange Fair, however, including many amenities … enough, in fact, that you never really need to leave. Restaurants, gas stations, banks, salons and a drug store can all be found here, among other businesses. In fact, the newest branch of the Centre County Library is located here, opened in 1997.
And while much of the housing stock in the borough is historic, there is variety. Post-war homes can be found in the borough and its outskirts, where even newer homes exist. Some of these newer homes are on estate lots, with amazing views of forested ridges and peaceful farmland.
The borough is found within Penns Valley Area School District, a small, rural public district serving southeastern Centre County. Within the last few years, this district has been consistently ranked within the top 100 districts in the state, out of nearly 500, by the Pittsburgh Business Times.
