I grew up in Wisconsin, loyal to all things north (especially the Packers) and proud to be a Midwesterner. After graduating high school, my family moved to Texas, a return home for my parents. After 10 years, I found my way out of the south and gratefully returned to the land of trees, rolling hills, and seasons.  Rather unusual, we had total flexibility in where we moved and after much research, we chose State College in 2007.  We recognized the special qualities of a small town with a big university. We could take advantage of the excellent public schools and the opportunity to run into a friend at the grocery store while experiencing the rich culture of arts, sports, and education that the University brings. I love State College for its celebration of diversity, growth, and forward thinking.

My husband, Shawn Carter, and I were married in October 2017, blending our families into an exciting 7! Our 5 children range in age from elementary school through college. They are the joy of our lives, they challenge us, encourage us, and give us great purpose. When my hands are not busy in real estate, we love to cook together, watch football, hang out with our kids, and travel when possible. Some of my favorite things include summer festivals, NYC, sunshine, eating delicious food, experiencing new places, and Sunday mornings at Unity Church (UCJC).

Why Real Estate? After years blessed as a stay-at-home mom, I began exploring the next chapter of my career.  Several impactful people in my life suggested that I should consider real estate.  It was appealing to me – I love people, I like details, and I’ve always had interest in homes.  My first 5 years in Real Estate were spent learning, questioning, and growing as I advocated for clients during their real estate transaction as a supporting agent.  The exposure to unique situations, both challenging and rewarding, was priceless.  I met incredible people.  I made dear friends and was able to make a difference in their story by helping them through their transitions with confidence and integrity.  In 2015 I stepped out and launched my own real estate business.

Real Estate gives me the opportunity to impact lives and this community, one relationship at a time.  I am honored to use my gifts and passions to have helped hundreds of others achieve their dreams.  I celebrate the flexibility that my career affords me and take seriously the responsibility given me by my trusting clients.  I find great reward in what I do; I believe I am making a difference and I am thankful that I have the privilege of doing what I love. Outside of my personal business I served on the MLS committee for three years and am a current Partner at KBB Realtors. I also serve on the Young Life committee and love that my involvement there directly impacts young people's lives in our community!

When thinking about how to sum myself up one thing continues to come to mind; people are my life! From the relationships I have with my family and loved ones to the relationships I nurture with clients, who become friends, I greet every day with the simple goal to give others the best of me!

I spent my childhood in Utica, NY surrounded by a large extended Italian family. With most of my relatives within a few blocks I learned early the beauty of community. In 1987, after college at RTI (Rochester Institute of Technology), where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, I followed a professional opportunity that led me to State College. I fell in love with the small town feel and all of the opportunities awarded by the University. I met my husband, Tracy, while we were both working as software engineers. During our three kiddos’ younger years, I stayed home and made them my focus, volunteering throughout the community with kids’ sports, booster clubs for cross country and volleyball, thespians, Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, Children’s Miracle Network, and others. Tray and I have been married for over 30 years now and with all the kids out of the house and onto their own adventures we are adjusting to the rhythm of an empty nest for the first time! In my free time I enjoy hiking, cooking, theatre, and reading.

In 2004 a dear friend and mentor suggested that I “give real estate a try” as a buyer agent on his team. I was licensed that year and have never looked back! This career gives me the ability to focus on the transitional times in people’s lives, a place where my caring and expertise allows me to make a real difference. There is so much going on behind the paperwork and I take great care in educating my clients about the process to enable collaborative and informed decision making. My high standards in excellence and in integrity, strengths in market knowledge and negotiating, and relationships I have formed with other agents and industry partners all contribute to the quality of service my clients experience throughout the process of buying and selling. After over 17 years in the business, I have a referral-based business built. I love my people and their trust in me grants me the joy of assisting their friends, family, and colleagues. These relationships are the cornerstone of my business and are what makes each day so fulfilling. Professionally, I have served as President of CCAR in 2014, spent three years on the CCAR Board of Directors, PAR Board and statewide committees including over 10 years on the Professional Standards Committee, helping to keep the industry moving forward in productive and positive directions.

At the end of 2021 I partnered with Lara Kingshipp Carter at Kissinger, Bigatel & Brower REALTORS! The energy and enjoyment of joining a group of talented and creative women is so exciting and I can’t wait to see where these next steps take us all!
